Inspired by the moment in Virgil's Georgics where the story of Orpheus trying to lead Euridice back from Hades is told. "Iam sub luce" means "now just close to daylight ..." It is at this moment as they are about to emerge into the light of day that Orpheus turns round and Euridice fades back into the shadows.
